#ICelebrateYou
In a few minutes, on the first Wednesday of each month, you can brighten someone’s day and create ripples of positivity and kindness.
Here’s how. The idea is simple:
Every first Wednesday of the month, publicly celebrate someone in your life. (It might be a relative or friend or colleague, or even a complete stranger who was especially helpful or nice.)
Use the hashtag #ICelebrateYou to make your stories easy to find and inspire others to celebrate someone too.
The first posts will be on Wednesday, March 6th. They can be on any social media platform or even your company intranet.
The idea for this started with a LinkedIn post by Paulina Nava, an engineer at GE Healthcare. She shared a post for Galentine's Day offering gratitude to a dozen women in her life. I thought it was a really nice thing to do and hit a “Love” reaction. A few minutes later, Paulina commented:
“Thanks for liking my post. We should start a day to celebrate our WOL allies.”
Brad Hagemann supported the idea and, a few comments later, #ICelebrateYou was born. We decided to post monthly and celebrate anyone we are grateful to have in our lives. The hashtag #ICelebrateYou has been used in a similar way before, and we hope our celebrations will help spread the idea.
It might take you a minute to celebrate someone. Some people might take ten minutes. Whomever you celebrate and however you do it, your contribution will brighten someone’s day and amplify positivity in a world that very much needs it.
Paulina, Brad, and I are thinking of who we will celebrate on Wednesday, March 6th and the first Wednesdays after that.
What about you? Who would you like to celebrate?
