Working Out Loud Ukraine

#WOL4Ukraine #WOL4GOOD

WOL4Ukraine is a community-led Working Out Loud program to help the Ukrainian cause.

What is WOL4Ukraine?

WOL4Ukraine is designed to support Ukraine and the cause of helping Ukrainians recover from the devastating effects of the war. Millions of Ukrainians have had to flee their homes. With their previous existence largely destroyed, many Ukrainian refugees or internally displaced citizens, have had to start from almost zero: with no international connections, no jobs, no stable sources of income and sometimes no adequate housing. Emotions of stress, overwhelm, trauma, anger and grief caused by the loss of loved ones, or by peaceful lives being uprooted, are often evident in the background.

Many Ukrainians are now having to rebuild their lives abroad or in other parts of Ukraine.  Many others from all over the world are already joining hands and making efforts to contribute to rebuild the country. These efforts include the attracting of international support/donations and founding or supporting different non-profit organizations or community support initiatives.

This program is about bringing back hope and optimism. It is also about building confidence and offering tangible support to courageous, entrepreneurial individuals who want to start a new life or venture, amidst a challenging political and societal situation. Each WOL Circle will be a mix of Ukrainians and members of other nationalities.

Please note the requirements of participating in this program:
- A good command of English. All communication and resources will be held in English.
- Access to WiFi, and technology with video and audio capabilities.
- A concern for the cause.
- Willingness to participate in conversations.
- No professional education or skills are required.

How you can help as a Non-Ukrainian

In a typical WOL Circles program, each participant is focused on a personal goal. With this program, the concept is a little bit different: we invite you to participate if you would like to combine your personal goal with humanitarian help to support the Ukrainian cause. You will be asked to offer the power of your networks,  your creative imagination and your emotional support to peers from Ukraine.

This is not an opportunity for coaches or businesses to acquire new clients. The WOL4Ukraine team will take special care to prevent any exploitation of each Circle participants' vulnerable situation. If you have a project or goal which can contribute to supporting a Ukrainian cause, we invite you to take this up in the Circle discussions.

What you can expect when coming from Ukraine?

Over the 12 weeks of the program, you will meet with your Circle to work on your personal goal and needs. The exercises each week will provide you with direction and connect you to people, knowledge and resources that can help towards your goal.

Throughout the program you will be connected with resources and supportive people from across the globe. Whether you are seeking a new job, planning to start a business or non-profit, or looking to improve your wellbeing and situation, we will do our utmost to be a source of care and inspiration.

HOW IT WORKS

The best investment is the one you make in yourself

For 12 weeks, together with a small confidential group (a "WOL Circle"), you make progress week-by-week towards an individual goal you choose. By the end, you will have a larger network related to your goal—and new skills, habits and a mindset you can apply toward any goal. Here’s how it works:

  • Meet with your circle on a weekly basis at a time that works for all of you. Step by step, you develop new skills, habits, and insights. WOL4Ukraine last for 12 weeks.

  • There will be 4 milestone meetings for all participants, together with the WOL4Ukraine team, to discuss progress and get inspired.

  • Meet with other WOLies in the WOL community and WOL Alumni, gain access to the official workbook and the latest WOL tools and resources.

  • Week by week, strangers become friends. And with each step you increase confidence and trust in yourself and in the group.

„Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller

In 2021, Antonia and Rajeev met in an international training on Positive Intelligence. Soon after the start of the war in Ukraine, February 2022, Antonia learned about Rajeev’s diverse and impressive humanitarian initiatives, including offering free coaching for Ukrainian refugees, volunteers and host families, setting up a Humanitarian Coach Community for Ukrainians, collecting donations for families in need (with a background of international helpers), and organising donations of medicines to Non-Profits in Ukraine. Hearing about the inspiring, but also heart-wrenching fight for survival of the many individuals Rajeev is connected to, brought the idea of WOL4Ukraine to life . The idea was quickly taken up by WOL Founder John Stepper and WOL Community Manager Mara Tolja. We deeply believe in the power of networking and the inspiring effect of dialogue within a Circle can be of benefit particularly to Ukraine and Ukrainians wanting to build their future - now!
